Larry Jay Mitsubishi - The Historical and Beautiful Charlotte, NC
Charlotte Skyline
Here at Larry Jay Mitsubishi, we are proud to say that we are located in Charlotte, North Carolina and we also serve all of the surrounding areas.  Home of Michael Jordan and Joe Gibbs, Charlotte is a place that encourages excellence and has grown to become one the most popular places for people to travel to and live.

History:

Charlotte North Carolina began as most cities in the United States did, as a mostly agricultural place that specialized in tobacco and cotton.   However, after a 17-lb golden nugget was found in 1799, many people flocked to the city to see what else they could find with the early beginning of the Gold Rush.

Although the “Gold Rush” eventually moved to California where it became more popular, this started the development of a much more commercial Charlotte that has changed into what it is today.  With the headquarters of both Bank of America and Wachovia located here, it is the second largest banking center in the U.S.  In additional to the commercial presence here in Charlotte, you can find many other attractions and forms of entertainment that people come from all over the country to see!

Places to see:

Charlotte has everything from Museums and festivals, to an incredible Amusement park and much more.   In Charlotte, there are a total of 9 Museums to visit, each one giving its own unique history to the city.  The Charlotte Museum of History is perhaps the most important to the city itself because it houses many important exhibits that highlight Charlotte and American History.

One of the coolest permanent showcases at the museum is the Hezekiah Alexander Home site. This building was built in 1774 and remains intact to this day as the oldest structure in the area. It is so important that it is listed on the National Register of Historical Places. Another important artifact that is kept at the Charlotte Museum of History is the American Freedom Bell. This piece was given to the Museum by the Belk Foundation and represents freedom and patriotism for the city.

In addition to Charlotte’s Museums, the city also has many events and festivals that are exciting and share the encouraging culture that lives in the town.  The Carolina Renaissance Festival is one of the largest Renaissance Festival’s in the country.  They use their own performance company to provide entertaining performances for the citizens of Charlotte.  Other Festivals to check out in Charlotte include the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, the Festival in the Park, and the Q-City Charlotte BBQ Championship!

If that wasn’t enough entertainment for one city, Charlotte also has the Carowinds Amusement Park also known as the “Thrill Capital of the Southeast,” and the U.S. National White Water Center.  Whether you want to ride roller coasters and enjoy the greatness of fair food, or spend time in the outdoors doing motivating activities and programs, both of these attractions provide a wide variety of things to do in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Sports:

Apart from the tourist value of Charlotte, the city also includes many assets that make it an appealing place to live as well.  As any football fan in North Carolina knows, the Carolina Panthers are housed in Charlotte along with their stadium.  The Carolina Panthers are so popular in their hometown that they have sold out every home game since 2002!  Interestingly enough, their stadium is one of the few stadiums in the NFL to be owned by their own team.

Education:

Natives of Charlotte understand the importance of education and how a good education has industrialized the city into the flourishing place that is it today.  This is evident in the number of Colleges and University housed within or around the city.  The most notable college is University of North Carolina at Charlotte, which is the largest institution in this area.  Other higher education institutions include the Charlotte School of Law, Queens University of Charlotte, and Johnson C. Smith University.
